Play Station 3 sales are down

NPD group has reported that Sony's Blu-ray equipped Play Station 3 has lost a some sales momentum. Sony was able to move 232,400 units in September but only 190,000 through October, a drop of roughly 18%.

The tough economy is certainly a contributing factor, along with the lower priced xBox 360 which actually showed an increase in sales from 347,200 units in September to 371,000 in October, and the fact that most new Blu-ray players have dropped significantly in price, to a point much closer to the PS3.
